Our client in Vienna is an internationally operating industrial enterprise in the paper industry. The company employs several thousand employees in various business areas and generates revenues in the billions.

As part of a pension succession, we are seeking a Senior CapEx Project Manager who, after approximately one year of familiarization, will assume the leadership of the currently small department at the time of the retirement of the current department head, equip it with additional competencies and personnel in the medium term, and develop it into a central support department (project management, engineering, cost control, processes, tools, etc.) for the CapEx projects of the company's European plants.

• You will assume the position of Senior CapEx Project Manager and Deputy Department Head, and after approximately one year, you will take over the position of the current department head upon his retirement.
• Regarding CapEx project management, you will support multiple European plants in the planning, development, approval, and implementation of their investment projects. In this central role, you will act as an interface between local site management and headquarters management, collaborating on the strategic development and alignment of the European production sites. This includes annual CAPEX budget planning, often in the hundreds of millions.
• You will expand CapEx project management and develop the area into a central support department for investment projects, encompassing all essential functions such as engineering, cost control, processes, and tools, in addition to project management.
• You will collaborate with the local project management of the plants to create monthly progress reports for major CapEx projects, focusing on costs, project schedules, achievement of defined project goals, and potential corrective actions.
• Initially, you will report hierarchically to the CapEx Project Management Department Head, eventually transitioning to reporting to the business unit management.

Anforderungsprofil

• Technical university degree in fields such as industrial engineering, process engineering, mechanical engineering, automation engineering, paper technology, plant engineering, or similar.
• Several years of experience in managing industrial major projects, preferably investment projects for the construction or renovation of industrial buildings, workshops, production lines, or plant equipment for the paper industry, pulp industry, or cardboard industry.
• Experience in leading and developing employees is advantageous.
• Very good MS Office skills and experience with project management tools.
• Excellent communication, moderation, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical managers, plant managers, and top management.
• Business fluent in English; knowledge of German is advantageous.
• Willingness to travel approximately 30-40% of the time in Central and Northern Europe (by plane, train, car). Trips typically last two to three days (not on weekends).
